Professor Alan Thorpe, a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society for almost 40 years has been named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Professor Alan Thorpe, 63, has been awarded an Order of the British Empire for services to environmental science and research thanks to his time as director general of the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts in Shinfield Park.
