New Tornado Warning for Parts of Macon, Elmore, Lee, Coosa & Tallapoosa Counties Until 9:15 AM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Tornado Warning for…
North central Macon County in southeastern Alabama…
Northeastern Elmore County in east central Alabama…
Northwestern Lee County in east central Alabama…
Southeastern Coosa County in east central Alabama…
Tallapoosa County in east central Alabama…

* Until 915 AM CST

* At 822 AM CST, severe thunderstorms capable of producing both
tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage were located
along a line extending from near Pentonville to near Reeves
Airport, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include…
Auburn, Alexander City, Tuskegee, Tallassee, Dadeville, Camp Hill,
Notasulga, Equality, Jacksons’ Gap, Franklin, Waverly, Kowaliga
Bridge, Western Lake Martin, Tallapoosa City, Eastern Lake Martin,
Reeves Airport, Martin Dam, Northern Lake Martin, Wind Creek State
Park and Highway 9 and Highway 22.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
