A solid line of showers and some thunder is pushing southeast across Central Alabama this evening.
At 6:30 p.m., it extends from Rainsville to Boaz and Albertville to west of Gadsden to Warrior and Sumiton to Northport and finally to Geiger in Sumter County.
In effect, the line is now approaching I-59.
The lightning is concentrated in Sumter and Greene Counties, Walker County and in Marshall and Etowah Counties.
The storms are not severe and aren’t expected to be severe, but you will experience brief heavy rain, some gusty winds and lightning in the stronger cells.
The rain will reach Downtown Birmingham between 7-715 p.m.
Rainfall amounts will vary along the line averaging around one quarter of an inch. But a few lucky spots will see more than one half inch.
