PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 0724 PM CST SAT JAN 21 2017 ...Severe thunderstorms expected over parts of the Gulf Coast States overnight... * LOCATIONS... Central and southern Alabama Western Georgia Western and central Florida Panhandle Southeastern Mississippi * HAZARDS... Several tornadoes, a few intense Widespread large hail, some baseball size Scattered damaging winds * SUMMARY... Severe storms are will persist and expand into the overnight across parts of the Gulf Coast region from southeastern Mississippi to western Georgia. Some of the storms will be capable of producing significant severe weather including strong tornadoes and very large hail. "Particularly Dangerous Situation" tornado watch 17 is in effect over parts of this region. Separate areas of severe storms ongoing over parts of Arkansas and Louisiana also may pose a continuing tornado and large-hail risk for a few more hours into western and southern Mississippi. Preparedness actions... Tornadoes at night can be particularly dangerous because they are usually fast-moving and difficult to see.
