Day 3 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1223 AM CST Sun Jan 22 2017 Valid 241200Z - 251200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Isolated thunderstorms are possible from Arizona into northern New Mexico Tuesday. ...Southwestern US... Strong mid-level speed max should translate across northern Mexico through the southern Plains into the OH valley Tuesday as a positive-tilt trough advances toward the middle of the contiguous US. Meager moisture/instability will be present east of the Rockies during the day3 period; however, steep lapse rates and strong diurnal heating should contribute to scattered convection from AZ into northern NM, just north of the aforementioned jet. Despite relatively cool profiles it appears lightning may be associated with deeper updrafts primarily during the afternoon hours. ..Darrow.. 01/22/2017Read more
