Two thunderstorm complexes are moving through the West Central and South Central parts of the state.
First, strong storms are impacting Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Greene and Sumter Counties. Lots of lightning and heavy rain as well as gusty winds with these storms.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of Pickens and Greene Counties until 1145 p.m.
This activity will rotate east northeast along and north of I-20.
Secondly, a large area of rain and storms is pushing across South Central Alabama. They extend from Grove Hill in Clarke County northeastward to the Montgomery area. Again, lots of lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds. The severe thunderstorm warning for Lowndes County was just canceled.
This activity will push across the Montgomery area and into East Central Alabama.
A special balloon launch has been issued by the National Weather Service Birmingham. It does show a low level inversion for now. But this inversion will be erased as we go through the next several hours.
A tornado watch continues for much of Central and South central Alabama.
