GOES-13 Water Vapor images with hourly surface weather symbols (below) revealed the extent of thunderstorms in the south and heavy snow in the north.
Suomi NPP VIIRS Visible (0.64 µm) and infrared Window (11.45 µm) images (below) provided a high-resolution snapshot of the storm at 1708 UTC.
