Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0751 PM CDT Fri Mar 31 2017 Valid 010100Z - 011200Z ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE NORTH CAROLINA COASTAL PLAIN... ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF THE CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS VICINITY... ...SUMMARY... A storm or two lingering onshore over the next 1-2 hours may be capable of producing marginally severe hail/wind across parts of the North Carolina coastal plain. Elevated showers and isolated thunderstorms are also expected to develop over the central high Plains vicinity later this evening/overnight, where marginal hail risk may evolve with a few of the strongest cells. ...North Carolina coastal plain... While isolated/supercell storms responsible for earlier severe weather across southeast Virginia and adjacent northeast North Carolina have moved offshore, a lingering frontal band of convection continues moving across the coastal plain of northeast North Carolina. While storms will continue to weaken/move offshore over the next 1-2 hours, a small temporal window for a storm or two to briefly reach severe levels remains apparent. ...Central high Plains vicinity... Warm advection associated with a strong nocturnal low-level jet forecast to develop this evening/overnight should eventually contribute to elevated convective initiation. A few storms may become capable of producing marginally severe hail -- warranting continuation of MRGL risk/5% hail area this forecast. ..Goss.. 04/01/2017Read more
