...Synopsis...
Broad mid-level cyclonic flow will be established across much of the
eastern US today. Embedded within this flow, one impulse will lift
northeast from New England into the Canadian Maritimes while another
will drop southeast from the northern Plains to the Ohio Valley. At
the surface, a cyclone will deepen as it advances northeast into New
Brunswick. In its wake, high pressure will build across much of the
eastern US. Farther west, a weak migratory low will progress from
the central Plains to the mid Mississippi Valley, in response to the
aforementioned impulse.

...Portions of the central Plains and Ozarks...
A small corridor of enhanced west/northwesterly 850-mb flow will
accompany the passing wave over the region today. In combination
with some modest tightening of the surface pressure gradient both
ahead and behind the surface trough, this flow aloft will lead to
breezy conditions across the region, with sustained
west/northwesterly winds around 15-20 mph. With dry air well
established, RH values will likely fall to around 15-25 percent as
well. Sufficiently dry fuels are expected to be available, such that
these meteorological conditions will likely favor elevated
fire-weather concerns.

...Portions of the Southeast...
Within a post-frontal dry air mass, RH values will fall to around
25-35 percent across much of the region today. While northerly winds
around 10-15 mph may locally enhance fire-weather concerns, they
should remain marginal enough to preclude highlights, especially
considering recent rainfall in many locations.
