...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF
THE EASTERN GULF COAST STATES AND CAROLINAS...

...SUMMARY...
Marginally severe thunderstorms with strong wind gusts and hail will
be possible on Sunday across parts of Georgia and the Carolinas.

...Georgia/Carolinas...
An upper-level low is forecast to move across the Tennessee Valley
on Sunday as southwest mid-level flow remains over Georgia and
Carolinas. At the surface, a low is forecast to move across the
southern Appalachians as a cold front advances eastward into western
Georgia by afternoon. A quasi-stationary front is forecast to extend
eastward from the low into parts of north-central South Carolina. A
narrow corridor of low-level moisture is forecast just ahead of the
cold front where surface dewpoints may be in the lower to mid 60s F.
As surface heating takes place and low-level convergence increases
along and ahead of the front, thunderstorm development may take
place during the afternoon across northern and western Georgia. A
few thunderstorms may also develop eastward across north-central
South Carolina. In spite of weak instability, a few of the storms
may become marginally severe mainly due to moderate deep-layer shear
and steep low-level lapse rates. Isolated damaging wind gusts and
hail will be the primary threats.
