...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF
GEORGIA AND THE CAROLINAS...

...SUMMARY...
Marginally severe thunderstorms with strong wind gusts and hail will
be possible on Sunday across parts of Georgia and the Carolinas.

...Georgia/Carolinas...
An upper-level low is forecast to move eastward across the Tennessee
Valley on Sunday. At the surface, a low is forecast to track across
Georgia as a cold front advances eastward from Alabama into western
Georgia by afternoon. Thunderstorm development is expected to take
place along the front during the day with convection moving from
west to east across the region during the mid to late afternoon.
Other thunderstorms may develop along a quasi-stationary front
extending eastward across South Carolina. NAM forecast soundings
just ahead of the cold front and surface low in central and eastern
Georgia at 21Z on Sunday show SBCAPE in the 500 to 1000 J/kg range
with 0-6 km shear of 40 to 45 kt. This may be enough for a marginal
wind damage threat as low-level lapse rates steepen in the
afternoon. Any severe threat should remain isolated and in a narrow
window around peak heating.
