MD 1348 Image

Mesoscale Discussion 1348
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0113 PM CDT Wed Jul 19 2017

Areas affected...Portions of southwestern MN

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 420...

Valid 191813Z - 191945Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 420
continues.

SUMMARY...The severe wind threat is expected to continue within
Watch #0420.

DISCUSSION...Although the intense southern end of the small complex
of thunderstorms has decreased in intensity the last 30 minutes,
continued lift will be favored to the east/east-northeast of the
ongoing convection over Brookings and Moody county associated with
the expanding MCV. Furthermore, continued lift along the modified
warm front extending eastward into SW MN, and large, straight
hodographs oriented perpendicular to the expanding cold pool edge,
should maintain the system and the severe wind threat in this time
period.
