Valid 042305Z - 050100Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 479 continues. SUMMARY...Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to develop slowly southward across the watch area this evening. DISCUSSION...Scattered intense thunderstorms have developed along a cold front that extends from just north of STL to near LAF. Large hail has been reported from a few of these cells. Rather large CAPE profiles and sufficient deep-layer shear for rotation will continue to promote hail in the stronger cells, along with some increasing risk of locally damaging wind gusts. Visible satellite imagery suggests new development may occur immediately west of WW 479.
