Areas affected...the central and northern Minnesota vicinity

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 420...

Valid 080102Z - 080300Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 420
continues.

SUMMARY...A small cluster of strong/severe storms continues across
north-central Minnesota, where severe weather remains a threat.

DISCUSSION...A small cluster of strong to severe storms is moving
across north-central Minnesota at this time, in tandem with an
eastward-moving MCV. The storms are occurring on the northern
fringe of a zone of moderate instability, where veering/increasing
flow with height is supporting storm organization/rotation.

One storm in particular -- now moving eastward across southern
Hubbard County at around 20 kt -- has shown recent radar indications
of updraft rotation. The storms -- and associated severe risk --
will continue over the next couple of hours, particularly across the
northern half of WW 420. A more stable airmass exists with eastward
extent, and particularly east of the Mississippi Valley, which --
combined with gradual diurnal cooling -- should eventually lead to a
gradual decrease in convective intensity.
