Quick hit of wintry weather Tuesday morning

In terms of snow events and accumulation, this is about as insignificant as they get. However, since it’s the first one, the attention this garners is higher than a typical coating to 3 inch snowfall.

Our first Christmas full moon since 1977 should be visible

For the first time since 1977, the moon is going to be full on Christmas. Of course that is also the same year the original Star Wars movie was released. How fun! If you are under 38 years old, this is the first full moon on Christmas in your lifetime. The next one won’t occur until 2034, I shudder to think how old I will be by then.

Venus and the Moon Provide Stellar Show

What’s even cooler is there is going to be a lunar occultation of Venus and the Moon. What is a lunar occultation? This is when the moon passes in front of a celestial object like a star or in tomorrow’s case a planet, like Venus.

The 2015 hurricane season ends without a New England storm, but how long will it last?

Today marks the final day of the 2015 hurricane season and while it was another unusually quiet season in the Atlantic, it wasn’t quite overall. Although New England once again escaped a direct hit from a hurricane or tropical storm, our luck will only last so long.
