New Year's Eve 31/12/15 Temperatures are lower but still mainly above normal. An area of rain and showers across western areas spreads eastward in the evening and night. Snow is possible over the northern hills for a time. Expect highs of 5 to 9C.
New Year's Day 01/01/16 A colder day to come across Britain. Lots of dry, sunny weather is expected across the country. Some rain may affect the far north west of Scotland. There is a risk of a frost by night with clear skies. Expect maximum temperatures of 4 to 7C.
Saturday 02/01/16 It's a bit milder in the south. A brisk south east wind prevails with a risk of showers near North Sea coasts. These may be a mix of rain and sleet. Cold and frosty in the night. Expect maximum temperatures of 4 to 7C.
Sunday 03/01/16 A cold and increasingly windy day. Confidence is low but an area of heavy rain may move in from the west later in the day, preceded by snow over the northern hills. Expect maximum temperatures of 2 to 7C. Monday 04/01/16 Windy with heavy rain clearing eastern parts of Britain while another area of heavy rain comes in from the west in the evening and night. Gales mat affect the west. Expect maximum temperatures of 4 to 6C.
