Wet & windy north-central Europe Saturday High pressure extends from the Atlantic across northern Iberia, whilst low pressure affects northern Europe. Strong easterly winds for southern Spain, but it is quite warm for Andalucia and the Algarve, highs 19C. Risk of showers around Gibraltar Strait. Dry across the north & east of Spain, plus southern France. Showery rain for southern Italy, more persistent in the Balkan states, extending to mainland Greece, although the islands should stay dry. Fair too for Cyprus, highs 20C. Windy and mild for northern France, the Low Countries & Germany, with outbreaks of rain spreading from the west. Snow develops for the Alps in Switzerland and western Austria, but drier toward the east. Patchy snow for eastern Poland, Belarus & western Ukraine, also the Baltic states & Finland. Windy plus heavy rain and snow across southern Norway & Sweden.
Sunday Risk of showers close to south-western Iberia, but much of Spain & Portugal should stay dry. Dry, sunny and fairly warm for southern France, Italy and the western Mediterranean. Dry and mild for the Balkans. Overnight rain for the Greek Islands will clear, but the day will be windy and quite cool. Thundery rain for Cyprus & Turkey. Northern Europe stays windy and unsettled, but generally very mild. Largely dry across France and Belgium, but rain may persist for the Netherlands, northern Germany and Denmark, accompanied by strong to gale force winds. Dry for the Alps. Patchy rain across eastern Europe. Changeable conditions across Scandinavia, with areas of rain and snow, but some brighter spells. Western Norway likely to see persistent rain and mountain snow.
