Cold and damp for many with a risk of sleet and snow Good morning, A cold and damp day for much of northern England, Wales, the Midlands and southwest England today as a front slips slowly eastwards. This is bringing rain with it, some heavy at times on the hills this morning. The rain band then edges eastwards this afternoon with southern England, the Midlands and northeast England seeing most of it. As it edges east it wil be turning increasingly to sleet and perhaps wth wet snow. High ground may well see a covering of snow by the evening. Staying dry in East Anglia and the far southeast until evening.
After a cold and damp start in eastern and southern Scotland, things should improve here by afternoon, the rain, sleet and snow fading away. Apart from a few wintry showers om western coasts, much of Scotland should be dry and bright with sunny spells.
Frost tonight in the north and west. Staying damp in the east with rain, sleet and some wet snow continuing throughout the night.
