Colder later This week will be rather unsettled as low pressure areas cross the country to bring heavy spells of rain accompanied by strong winds. Gusts over 70 mph may affect the channel coasts over the next few days. Temperatures generally mild but may fall late in the week with the threat of snow showers. Scattered showers to affect western areas with central and eastern area fair and dry with sunnier spells. Colder overnight with a frost in sheltered locations. Expect highs of 5 to 7C.
Wednesday 10/02/16 Milder in the south with the winds coming back around to the south south west. After a dry morning, rain spreads into Northern Ireland, Wales and south west England in the afternoon. Wet and windy for the evening and night with rain, some of it heavy and with snow over the high ground of Northern Ireland and northern Scotland. Expect maximum temperatures of 5 to 10C.
Thursday 11/02/16 Today looks colder and very windy. As low pressure moves east, a strong north west flow develops during the day and night. Cloudy with spells of rain for most places, with a risk of some snow over the northern hills and Wales. Expect maximum temperatures of 4 to 7C.
Friday 12/02/16 Rather cold with rain across eastern parts of Britain and some sleet and snow over the hills. Fair and dry across central and eastern areas. Very windy again with gale around eastern coasts for a time. Cold overnight with a widespread frost and icy patches in the east. Expect maximum temperatures of 2 to 7C. Saturday 13/02/16 Milder in the south, cold in the north with increasing winds. Confidence is low at present but an area of rain spills into the south from the south west and may turn to snow across northern England and Scotland, perhaps to lower levels for a time. Expect maximum temperatures of 2 to 8C. Sunday 14/02/16 Staying cold. An area of rain, sleet and wet snow over the hills may affect England and Wales. Drier to the north, low confidence. Expect maximum temperatures of 2 to 6C.
