UK Forecast: Scattered heavy showers - Overnight frost, Mar 29 - 16:01

Wednesday Slack low pressure centred to the north of Britain. Sunny spells for many areas, particularly morning. A good deal of dry weather, but there will be a scattering of showers. In the morning, these most frequent in coastal areas in the west & south. Bursts of rain will become more widespread by afternoon, locally slow moving. Risk hail and thunder, mainly north & west. Winds becoming light away from showers. Daytime highs 9 to 12C.

Wednesday night Showers will fade in the evening, becoming confined to coastal areas, mainly in the west. Lengthy clear spells and winds mostly very light. More cloud and breeze is likely toward the far south & south-east of England which should keep temperatures at 3 to 5C. Otherwise a widespread frost developing, particularly rural areas; lows 0 to -2C for the Midlands, Wales & northern Britain, locally -4C or lower Highland glens.

Thursday Pressure builds slowly across Britain. A dry day for many, with a good amount of sunshine. Scattered showers around some coasts in morning, mainly north Wales, perhaps also around Kent & Sussex. During the day, a few clusters of showers may break out over central & northern England, moving around only slowly. Mostly light winds, but a brisk north-easterly breeze near south-eastern coasts. Highs 8 to 10C in north, 12 or 13C south.

Friday A slight frost for rural parts at first. A ridge of high pressure subsides slowly south-eastwards. Best sunshine toward the east & south, but cloud will thicken in the west as fronts move in off the Atlantic. Rain develops for Ireland, and increasingly Scotland, turning persistent. Later rain will encroach into western England & Wales. Southerly winds increasing, risk gales in far west. Highs 10 to 13C, cooler where rain develops.
