UK Forecast: Cloudy, scattered showers - Turning cold, windy, Apr 23 - 16:53

Sunday A chilly north west wind will prevail across the country today. Expect a good deal of cloud throughout the day with the best of the sunshine across western parts of Scotland and north west England. There is a risk of showers across Wales and the south of England. By afternoon a few light showers will be across central and southern England with most other places dry. Expect maximum temperatures of 8 to 12 Celsius.

Sunday night It continues breezy into the evening and night. Skies will be clearing in the evening giving some late sunshine. Over night a number of showers are expected across northern Scotland, Northern Ireland, Cumbria, western Wales and south western parts of England. To the east it will be dry and coldest in the south. Expect minimums of -1 to 4 Celsius.

Monday We keep that brisk north west wind into Monday making it feel cold. A deep low moving into the North Sea brings lots of cloud and frequent showers, some heavy with a risk of hail. Across the high ground of Scotland and northern England these will fall as snow. The showers die out early in the evening followed by a dry, windy and cold night. Strong winds will affect North Sea coasts. Icy patches develop where showers fell as temperatures dip to below freezing quite widely. Expect top temperatures of 6 to 11 Celsius.

Tuesday String north to northwest winds persist across the country today with the strongest gusts near eastern coasts of England. Another cold day and feeling even colder in those winds. Expect a mixture of cloud, sunnier spells and showers. The showers will be of snow across the higher ground of Wales, northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Again the showers fade in the evening. Very cold overnight and with lighter winds, a widespread frost develops. Expect top temperatures of 6 to 10 Celsius.
