Dry for most this week Several days of dry, settled weather this week, although showers will develop in the far south. Temperatures will improve for a few days, but expect slight frosts overnight. Thursday 21/04/16 High pressure centred to the north-west of the British Isles maintains settled conditions across most areas. Plenty of sunshine overall. A front over northern France may allow showers to encroach toward south-western Britain. Mostly light winds in the north, but a brisk easterly breeze is likely in southern regions. Slight frost at dawn. Daytime temperatures 13 to 15C, locally 17C in the south.

Friday 22/04/16 Little change to the pattern, but a slow moving front in the far south may nudge further across the English Channel to bring frequent bursts of rain to southern counties of England, perhaps south Wales. Sunny spells in western regions. Thicker cloud and perhaps a little drizzle in the east. A fresher east to north-easterly breeze will make it feel cooler. Highs 9C in north-east, up to 14C west.

Saturday 23/04/16 A cool pattern is likely to become widespread through the weekend. Increasingly showery conditions spreading from the north and north-east - snow on higher northern hills, perhaps snow to low levels northern Scotland. Sunny spells, best in the west and south. A chilly northerly wind. Risk a slight frost at dawn. Temperatures falling from the north, highs 8 to 11C, locally 13C south-west.

Sunday 24/04/16 Chilly conditions expected across Britain and Ireland as northerly winds dominate. Showers developing and spreading from the north - likely to fall as snow across the hills, locally to low levels at times. Top temperatures just 7 to 10C. Monday 25/04/16 Likely to remain distinctly cool for late April. Low pressure developing near or to the east of Britain brings a risk of widespread showers or some longer periods of rain. Snow on the hills at times. Risk of frost overnight. Highs 7 to 11C. Tuesday 26/04/16 Unsettled and cool conditions likely to continue. Areas of persistent rain or showers, some snow on hills.
