Week ahead: Milder but colder later - Dry then more unsettled, Apr 16 - 09:19

Cold north east wind later A cell of high pressure is expected to build in across the country to start the upcoming weeks with temperatures on the rise. Come Friday a much colder north east wind brings temperatures down with more unsettled conditions expected from Thursday. For the weather for the next few days click here Tuesday 18/04/16 A windy day in the south west. With high pressure centred over the country, it's a fine, dry day to come with sunny spells. More cloud develop in the afternoon. It stays dry overnight with a risk of a frost in the north. High temperatures of 10 to 15C.

Wednesday 19/04/16 A breezy day and mild in the south. It will again remain dry across the country throughout the day with lots of sunshine. Moore cloudy today across south west England. Light rain affects Wales and the south west in the evening and night. Highs of 12 to 16C.

Thursday 21/04/16 Very mild today. Outbreaks of rain across Wales and the south west in the morning then spread east across all but Scotland in the afternoon. The rain may become heavier in the evening and night across England and Wales. Highs of 12 to 19C.

Friday 22/04/16 A colder north east wind drops temperatures today. Persistent and rain tends to linger across Wales and central and southern parts of England all day. Showers to affect Scotland these wintry over the Highlands. Top temperatures of 8 to 10C.

Saturday 23/04/16 It continues cold and breezy today with the winds from the north east. Rain in the south east clears away this morning. Elsewhere expect a good deal of cloud and scattered showers, these wintry over the northern hills. Expect highs of 8 to 10C. Sunday 24/04/16 Overall expect a rather cloudy, cold day with temperatures below normal. Confidence is low but we may see an area of low pressure develop and move into England bringing in a spell of heavy rain with snow over the hills. Highs of 7 to 9C.
