Below normal temperatures This week looks rather cold for this time of year with temperatures dropping to below normal. An unsettled week with low pressure in charge. Shower are likely and later in the week there is a risk of more persistent rain, sleet and snow that could give local accumulations. Frosts are expected to develop as well. Expect a good deal of cloud and scattered showers, these mixed with sleet and snow across Scotland and the high ground of Wales and northern England. Cold overnight with icy patches where showers fell. High temperatures of 6 to 9C.
Wednesday 27/04/16 It continues breezy across the country, again with lots of cloud and occasional showers. The showers will be wintry over the hills of Wales, northern England and Scotland. Very cold overnight with a widespread frost developing. Highs of 6 to 10C.
Thursday 28/04/16 Breezy today and remaining cold. An area of rain, sleet and snow may affect Northern Ireland, northern England and Scotland, perhaps some snow even to low levels. To the south east it's mainly dry with the odd rain shower. That area of rain, sleet and snow moves across eastern areas in the evening. Very cold overnight with a widespread, hard frost and icy patches. Highs of 6 to 10C.
Friday 29/04/16 Windy today across northern parts of Britain. Showers are expected across northern and western areas. East Anglia and the south east may escape with a fair, dry day. Top temperatures of 9 to 12C.
Saturday 30/04/16 Milder in the south today. Showers are likely to develop through the day with the best of the sunshine across southern parts of England. A dry night with a touch of frost. Expect highs of 9 to 13C. Sunday 01/05/16 Breezy and still rather cold. Best of the sunshine will be in the west. More cloud in the east with a risk of showers, these may be mixed with sleet. Highs of 9 to 12C.
