Week ahead: Warmer and humid - Risk of thunderstorms, Jun 04 - 08:52

Above average temperatures An area of low pressure to the south west will be bringing in warm and humid air as we head into the upcoming week and this will increase the chance of seeing some heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms. Some areas could escape most of the showers with the north east being the most favoured areas to stay dry. For the weather for the next few days click here Tuesday 07/06/16 A warm, humid day and after a mainly dry start to the day, ,more cloud and showers are expected to develop. Later these may be locally heavy with a risk of thunder. Most of the showers fade during the evening. Expect high temperatures of 18 to 24C.

Wednesday 08/06/16 We expect little overall change across much of the country today with a number of showers developing in many areas as we go through the course of the day and stays warm and humid. Again the showers locally heavy and thundery. Eastern parts of Scotland may be dry with low cloud and mist. Highs of 18 to 24C.

Thursday 09/06/16 Thursday looks drier and bright with sunny spells. Northern Ireland, Wales and south west England have the greater shower risk today. An area of rain may spread into many areas in the night. Highs of 17 to 23C.

Friday 10/06/16 For much of the country it's mostly cloudy and damp with outbreaks of rain. The far south and south east of England may escape the day dry. The rain clears in the evening. Top temperatures of 16 to 22C.

Saturday 11/06/16 A number of showers tend to develop across much of the country along with sunnier spells. Some of the showers could be on the heavy side. Rain may affect the west overnight. Expect highs of 17 to 22C. Sunday 12/06/16 Confidence is quite low in the forecast. Models suggest a band of rain affects western parts of Britain in the morning and this weakens as it tracks in across eastern areas. Expect highs of 17 to 22C.
