Week ahead: Coldest in south - Settled and dry, Nov 27 - 10:10

Frosts and freezing fog An area of high pressure is expected to dominate much of Britain with little in the way of rainfall. Temperatures tend to fall as we go through the week with northern Britain milder by mid week while it's colder in the south. Frost will be widespread at times as will fog patches, these may be dense and freezing in the south. Some patchy drizzle may affect the north at times. For the weather for the next few days click here Wednesday 30/11/16 Cloudy, milder and very windy across northern areas. Rain affect mainly northern Scotland. Morning fog and freezing fog in the south clears this morning as the winds pick up. Dry with good sunny spells across the south but a cold day. Mild and windy in the north overnight. Frosty across Wales and the far south of England. Expect high temperatures of 5 to 10C.

Thursday 01/12/16 Windy with patchy rain in the north west. Dry elsewhere with the best of the sunshine from The Midlands southward but staying the coldest. Cloudy and breezy in the north in the night, dry for England and Wales. A frost develops in the south and across Wales. Highs of 6 to 9C.

Friday 02/12/16 A dry, colder day with a brisk north west wind away from the south. Lots of sunshine for England and Wales after clearance of fog patches that may be locally dense. A dry night with frost across Wales and central and southern England. Highs of 5 to 7C.

Saturday 03/12/16 It remains fine and dry with a fair amount of sunshine. Fog patches in the south may take some time to disperse. A clear, dry night with a widespread frost across the country along with some fog patches. Highs of 4 to 7C.

Sunday 04/12/16 Sunday appears quite cold with temperatures below average. We may find some light rain in the north west otherwise it's to stay fine and dry with mostly sunny skies. Another widespread frost to come overnight along with some locally dense patches of freezing fog. This may be quite extensive across central and southern England up into the Vale of York. Where fog lingers, temperatures may struggle to reach the freezing mark. Highs of 3 to 6C. Monday 05/12/16 An area of rain runs in across Scotland. A cold, frosty morning across England and Wales with a risk of locally dense fog patches slowly clearing central and southern areas leaving a dry day with hazy spells of sunshine. Expect highs of 4 to 8C.
