NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...Central Florida

Concerning...Tornado Watch 23...

Valid 230032Z - 230200Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 23 continues.

SUMMARY...Severe/tornado risk is ongoing across central Florida.

DISCUSSION...Current radar loop shows a broken band of
severe/embedded supercell storms extending from near St. Johns
County southwest to Pinellas County, roughly along the surface
front/wind shift. Meanwhile, isolated supercells continue shifting
northeastward across central Florida ahead of this main band.

The overall environment ahead of the front/wind shift remains highly
favorable for supercells (including potential for strong tornadoes,
damaging winds, and large hail) per the evening TBW RAOB which
reveals 1800 J/kg mixed-layer CAPE, 53 kt 0-1 km shear, and 0-6 km
shear 74 kt. Expect risk to remain roughly steady-state over the
next couple of hours across central Florida -- and later into
southern parts of the state -- as the front/wind shift advances
east/east-southeast across the Peninsula.
