Sunday 29/01/17 Fronts moving eastwards across Britain bring cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain or drizzle. Some uncertainty about local detail, but areas toward the north-east should stay driest and brightest of all, perhaps with a good deal of sunshine. A south-westerly breeze brings milder air to southern Britain, up to 10C or higher. Cooler in Scotland and northern England, around 5 to 8C.

Monday 30/01/17 Much milder air is likely to spread across all areas from the south-west. Rain mostly toward the west & north-west, may become heavy and persistent in western Scotland & Northern Ireland. Mostly just patchy rain or drizzle for central & southern areas. Cloudy for most, brightest in the east. Winds may increase to gale force in the north-west later. Highs 9 to 13C.

Tuesday 31/01/17 An area of low pressure moving north-east past Scotland may bring gales in the early hours. Staying blustery into the daytime. A cold front passes slowly eastwards across Britain, bringing rain to many areas, heaviest and most persistent in western regions, whilst only small amounts may reach the east. Temperatures 9 to 12C, may drop a little in north-west.

Wednesday 01/02/17 A fairly mild south-westerly airflow continues to affect the British Isles. Further fronts are likely to spread from the Atlantic, bringing rain to western regions, perhaps heavy and persistent. Drier toward the east and north-east. Temperatures around 7 to 11C. Thursday 02/02/17 Low pressure is likely to be positioned to the west & south-west of Britain, maintaining unsettled conditions later in the week. Areas of rain or heavy showers, most persistent in the west. Eastern regions may stay largely dry. Windy, risk of gales. Highs 7 to 11C. Friday 03/02/17 Staying unsettled, with strong to gale force winds possible, and areas of rain or showers, wettest in the west. Temperatures 7 to 11C.
