Mesoscale Discussion 0191 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0643 PM CST Sun Feb 19 2017 Areas affected...Portions of western and central TX and southern OK Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 34... Valid 200043Z - 200245Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 34 continues. SUMMARY...Isolated severe storms will continue spreading northward and eastward across Watch 34 through the evening hours. DISCUSSION...Convection continues increasing in coverage along a boundary oriented north-northeast/south-southwest across western portions of Watch 34. During the next few hours, isolated instances of severe hail and wind may accompany the most vigorous updrafts -- especially those maintaining more discrete/semi-discrete characteristics across the Edwards Plateau. With the 00Z sounding at Fort Worth and regional VAD wind profiles indicating an appreciable boundary-parallel flow component through much of the troposphere, upscale convective growth will continue through the evening. As this occurs, convection will gradually develop eastward, aided by cell propagation into the moderately unstable environment indicated by the aforementioned sounding. The primary hazard should transition toward isolated damaging wind gusts, and the severe risk is expected to diminish west of the consolidating convective line. ..Cohen.. 02/20/2017 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
