Morning Call: Dry & bright central areas - Wet & cold in Scotland, Mar 04 - 04:44

Snow for the Scottish Highlands Good morning, Low pressure broadly influences the British Isles, centred over the Irish Sea, drifting slowly north through the day. Strong easterly winds in the far north, whilst westerlies may reach gale force in the far south-west. An occluded front resides across Scotland, producing persistent rain, particularly for eastern Scotland, giving 20-30mm or locally more in the day. Snow for the Highlands above 400m.

Heavy showers affect the south-west, spreading increasingly across Wales during the afternoon. Heavy showery rain also affects much of Ireland. A zone of rain affects the east coast of England, but should move off into the North Sea during the day. Central & northern England are likely to stay dry much of the day, with sunshine breaking through. Today's top temperatures will be 8 to 11C, but much colder for Highland Scotland. Have a great day.
