Areas affected...Portions of far eastern MO...southern
IL/IN...western/central KY...and western/middle TN
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 276...
Valid 272050Z - 272215Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 276
continues.
SUMMARY...A widespread damaging wind threat will increase across
western portions of WW 276 over the next several hours. Isolated
large hail remains possible too.
DISCUSSION...Scattered to numerous convection has developed over the
past several hours across WW 276 along a front in southern IL/IN, as
well as along an outflow boundary across western KY into middle TN.
Multiple instances of large hail (1-1.75 inches in diameter) have
been reported with the strongest cores, and the overall environment
across this region remains favorable for the maintenance of strong
to severe convection through the evening hours. A more organized and
widespread damaging wind threat will likely impact western portions
of WW 276 (southern IL/IN, western KY/TN) over the next several
hours. Latest radar loops shows a bowing line of thunderstorms
moving east-southeastward across southern IL as of 2045Z, with 50+
kt inbound velocities present on the KPAH radar. Damaging winds will
likely occur with this convection, and an even more widespread
damaging wind threat may be realized with a second bowing line
moving quickly eastward across central/southern MO if it can
maintain its intensity as it moves into western portions of WW 276.
