Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 203

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  southern Iowa
  Northwest Illinois
  Northern Missouri

* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 100 PM
  until 800 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
  A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...A warm front will continue to lift slowly northward across
southeast Iowa and north-central IL this afternoon, with a
destabilizing air mass along and south of this front. Strong to
severe thunderstorms across south-central Iowa should continue to
increase in coverage and intensity as they spread east-southeastward
into southeast Iowa, northern Missouri and northwest Illinois
through early evening.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40
statute miles north and south of a line from 25 miles north of
Lamoni IA to 20 miles east of Peoria IL. For a complete depiction of

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm motion vector
27035.
