Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 218

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
  Far northeast Iowa
  Southern Minnesota
  Western Wisconsin

* Effective this Monday night and Tuesday morning from 950 PM
  until 300 AM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
    inches in diameter possible
  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

SUMMARY...Atop a relatively stable near-surface layer, elevated
thunderstorms will continue to increase and pose mostly a large hail
threat through the late evening and overnight hours.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40
statute miles north and south of a line from 40 miles northwest of
Fairmont MN to 45 miles east of La Crosse WI. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
