At 12:54 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Steele to near Ohatchee. Movement was east at 25 mph. Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.
A SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for Northwestern Calhoun and Southeastern Etowah counties until 1:45PM CDT.

Gadsden, Rainbow City, Hokes Bluff, Attalla, Glencoe, Ohatchee, Steele, Gadsden Mall, Southside, Gadsden Steam Plant, Big Wills Creek, Gadsden Municipal Airport, Cobb City, Sulphur Springs, Gadsden Water Works and Wellington.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
