Strong Storms Affecting Jefferson & Shelby Counties

At 1:00 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Ross Bridge, or near Hoover, moving east at 20 mph. Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

A SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY North/Central Shelby and Southeastern Jefferson counties until 1:45PM CDT.

Locations impacted include…
Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Bessemer, Homewood, Pelham, Mountain Brook, Irondale, Indian Springs Village, Lipscomb, Regions Park Or Hoover Met, Bluff Park, Samford University, Highland Lakes, Cahaba Heights, Patton Creek, Fowler Lake, Ross Bridge, The Summit and Lake Purdy.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
