Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0759 PM CDT Tue Aug 15 2017 Valid 160100Z - 161200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF NORTHEAST COLORADO/NEBRASKA/NORTHWEST KANSAS AND VICINITY... ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS SURROUNDING THE SLGT RISK AREA...AND INCLUDING A LARGER PORTION OF THE PLAINS... ...SUMMARY... Isolated to scattered severe storms will continue over the next several hours across parts of the Great Plains. ...The Plains... Thunderstorms continue across portions of the central U.S. early this evening, with the most widespread convection in progress across the Nebraska vicinity - in and near the SLGT risk area. With a surface baroclinic zone lying roughly west-to-east across the risk area and moderate CAPE revealed by objective analyses and evening RAOBs, expect storms to continue -- particularly near the front but also in a more isolated manner spreading east out of the High Plains. While mid-level westerlies remain somewhat weak, veering with height will continue to provide ample shear for semi-organized storms -- and associated risk for hail and locally damaging winds. ..Goss.. 08/16/2017Read more
