...Gusty winds Possible This Morning... Gusty winds associated with a diminishing thunderstorm complex through central Iowa may briefly reach speeds in excess of 40 mph through the morning hours. These winds may occur even well removed from any precipitation, but will not last too long. Winds recently gusted to 47 mph at Ames shortly before 9AM.
