A battle between high pressure to the east and low pressure to the west High pressure and low pressure are to lock horns this week bringing drier weather to the east and damper conditions in the west. The southerly flow gives milder temperatures than in recent days, although it may be windy at times in the west. Hints are that things may turn more unsettled next weekend as the remnants of former Hurricane Maria reach our shores.
For the weather for the next few days click here Monday 25/9/17 The remnants of the front remain north to south through the UK on Monday. This brings many areas a cloudy and damp start to the day. There will be some drizzle or light rain especially in southern England, the Midlands, northwest England and western and central Scotland. This rain and drizzle area should fade into the afternoon. Drier to the east and perhaps brighter too, although rather murky. Ireland should be brighter and dry with sunny spells. Tops at 15 to 21C.
Tuesday 26/9/17 Pressure is forecast to build more widely across the British Isles by Tuesday now, but the SE'ly breeze perhaps may bring a few spots of drizzle and some low cloud in the east. Generally the cloud breaks through the day though to give some sunny spells and it will be pleasantly warm, especially inland, but cooler near North Sea coasts. Highs at 14C to 21C.
Wednesday 27/9/17 Lower pressure west of Ireland on Wednesday with high pressure to the east is still set to dominate. Fronts bring rain and a strong wind to Ireland and western Scotland. Elsewhere it should be mostly dry with some sunny spells, although there is still much uncertainty in the timing of the arrival of the rain in the west. Highs at 14C to 20C.
Thursday 28/9/17 A front edges eastwards again on Thursday and it is expected that this brings a band of rain with it, aligned north to south through the UK. It may be that southeast England stays dry throughout the day. Brighter and drier weather arriving into Ireland behind the front. Highs at 15 to 21C.
Friday 29/9/17 A front may become slow moving in the east on Friday bringing a wet and cloudy day here. brighter weather follows form the west with some sunny spells, although showers affecting Ireland. Highs at a fresher 14 to 18C. Saturday 30/9/17 Saturday may become more unsettled with strong winds and some rain developing. Confidence remains low. Highs at 14 to 20C.
