Europe forecast: Cold, wet Mediterranean - Drier northern Europe, Jan 23 - 04:44

Cold, wet and windy Mediterranean, drier and brighter in northern Europe Wednesday A wet and cold day in northern Spain with snow in the mountains. Brighter, breezy but cold in the south. Windy and cold with some showers in eastern Spain and the Balearics. Rain through Corsica and Sardinia as well as in Italy. Wet too for Greece with rain here, some heavy. Turkey will have rain in the west but the east should be dry with sunny spells. Windy with snow in southern France, but dry with sunny spells to the north. Chilly in the Low Countries with broken cloud and some bright spells. Germany will be dry with good spells of sunshine. Cloud and some snow in the far south but dry with lots of sunshine elsewhere. Bright and cold for Denmark should be dry and cold with some sunny spells. Mostly dry in the Baltic States although snow showers for Finland. The snow showers affecting northern Sweden too whilst central and southern areas are drier and brighter. Snow in the west of Norway.

Thursday Cloud and showers in northern Spain. Southern and eastern Spain will be cold but mostly dry with some sunny spells. Windy and cold in the Balearics. Gales for Corsica and Sardinia with rain and even some sleet. Wet in central and southern Italy with heavy periods of rain. Gales in northern Italy and very cold. Rain for Greece and for the west of Turkey. Fair and cold in France with a widespread frost. Sunshine in the Low Countries and most of Germany with plenty of sunshine. Poland will be fine with more sunshine too. Austria and Hungary will feel cold in the wind with a few snow showers in Switzerland. Sunny spells in Denmark and across southern Sweden. The Baltic States will have scattered snow showers. Rather cloudy for Finland and cold. More cold conditions in northern Sweden. heavy snow showers affecting much of Norway.
