Thursday will be a cold but dry day everywhere with freezing fog expected for central and southern regions, particularly in low-lying areas Good morning, It will be a cold and frosty start to the day across Scotland, England and Wales are temperatures will have dropped below freezing for most of us overnight. A little less cold in Ireland where temperatures are generally expected to remain at 1C or a little above. It will be a bright morning for northern and eastern Scotland, northwest England and the south of England but it will be cloudy for northwestern parts of Scotland. Elsewhere extensive freezing fog patches are expected to have formed.
It will be a dry day for all but it will remain cloudy for western areas through the afternoon. Some mist and fog patches will be slow to clear and may persist through the afternoon too. The best of the brightness will be for central and southern areas. High temperatures widely reaching just 1 to 4C, although 6 or 7C is possible for the southwest.
A mixture of cloudy and clear skies will persist through the evening. Cloud will linger in the west while eastern areas will see the best of the clear skies. It will be another cold evening and temperatures will fall quickly after sunset.
