Morning Call: Mostly dry and bright - Wintry showers for coastal areas, Feb 02 - 04:44

Saturday should be a mostly dry and bright day across the UK and Ireland away from coastal areas where there could be some wintry showers. Feeling cold in the northerly breeze. Good morning, Saturday starts cold with sub-zero temperatures across most of the country and a widespread risk of ice and a hard frost. It will be a bright start too for most away from coastal areas where it will be rather murky and some wintry showers will be lingering.

Northerly winds will persist throughout the day bringing the risk of wintry showers to North Sea coasts and areas exposed to the wind throughout the afternoon. Away from eastern coastal areas it should be a mostly dry and bright afternoon with good amounts of sunshine. Temperature highs on Saturday of 1 to 5C but feeling much chillier in the northerly breeze.

Cloud will build from the west through Saturday evening but clear skies will remain for eastern areas and, with the exception of western Ireland, it should remain mostly dry too.

Stay warm today! Claire
