Week ahead: Cool - Showery, Apr 01 - 08:55

An unsettled start to April with cool temperatures and frequent showers The start of April sees a spell of unsettled weather for the UK and Ireland. Low pressure will bring a mixture of sunny spells and thundery showers. It will be breezy at times too. Temperatures will feel cool and there will be some early morning frosts.

For the weather for the next few days click here Thursday 04/04/19 A very complex set up on Thursday with low pressure over the North Sea which will possibly track westward over Scotland through the day. Through the morning this will bring showers to northern parts of the country which will fall as snow over higher ground in Scotland, the north of England and Wales. Through the afternoon showers will spread into Ireland and southern parts of England too. A breezy day for the northern half of Scotland. High temperatures at 6 to 10C.

Friday 05/04/19 An ongoing complex pattern continues on Friday with low pressure to the northwest of Ireland and a ridge of high pressure trying to build in the east. A showery day for western areas; drier but still cloudy in the east. The best of any brightness is likely to develop over northeastern parts of England and Scotland. High temperatures at 7 to 12C.

Saturday 06/04/19 An easterly airflow develops on Saturday and a band of showers will move westward across the UK from the North Sea. A dry and bright start to the day in the west but clouding over through the afternoon. The south of England and western Ireland should stay dry. Highs at 7 to 13C.

Sunday 07/04/19 The easterly airflow seems set to continue through Sunday. Mostly dry and bright for northern areas; cloudy with a chance of showers in the south. High temperatures at 8 to 13C.

Monday 08/04/19 An easterly flow dominates through Monday and may send a pulse of heavy showers westward across the north of England and into Ireland and to eastern coastal areas. Drier and brighter in the far north and south. Highs at 7 to 13C. Tuesday 09/04/19 Northeast to easterly winds will push a band of rain and showers southwestward across the UK on Tuesday. A drier and brighter day in Ireland. High temperatures at 6 to 12C.
