The 1st Dr Pepper plant survived an F5-rated tornado 66 years ago and still bears the scars

On May 11, 1953, Waco, Texas, home to the birthplace of Dr Pepper, was struck by the deadliest tornado in the state's history. The town's residents disregarded warnings of the imminent dangerous weather as they believed an old legend that it was impossible for tornadoes to hit the area.
