Mesoscale Discussion 1110 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0714 PM CDT Mon Jun 17 2019 Areas affected...Delmarva and Chesapeake Bay vicinity Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 392... Valid 180014Z - 180115Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 392 continues. SUMMARY...Localized wind damage (45-60mph gusts) is possible through the early evening. The threat for wind damage will likely lessen by 9-10pm EDT and the severe thunderstorm watch may be canceled early prior to the 11pm EDT expiration time, dependent on short-term trends. DISCUSSION...Radar mosaic shows a cluster of multicells west of Chesapeake Bay with this activity moving to the east towards the Delmarva peninsula. Surface temperatures are in the lower 80s with lower 70s degrees F dewpoints. Despite strongly veering winds in the lowest 0.5km, 0-6km shear is around 25kt according to the 00z WAL raob and KDOX VAD data. Only marginal instability was evident on the raob. As such, expecting the remaining strong to locally severe risk to lessen over the next 1-2 hours coincident with storms approaching the Atlantic coast. ..Smith.. 06/18/2019 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
