NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...west-central AL

Concerning...Tornado Watch 708...

Valid 300027Z - 300200Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 708 continues.

SUMMARY...A corridor of greater severe potential exists across
portions of western AL this evening. Damaging wind gusts and a
tornado or two will be possible over the next couple of hours.

DISCUSSION...Several areas of weak to moderate rotation have been
noted in SRV data over the last 30 minutes from Noxubee County MS to
Lamar County AL, both with semi-discrete supercells and bowing
segments. A corridor of relatively increased severe potential will
exist downstream of this section of the line across western AL over
the next 1-2 hours. The 00z RAOB from BMX showed MLCAPE around 400
J/kg with effective SRH greater than 400 m2/s2. This strong shear
environment will continue to support organized, rotating convection
capable of damaging gusts and possibly a tornado or two in the short
term.
