A lively front is expected to track northeastwards across the UK today, bringing spells of rain, heavy and thundery in places. Staying largely cloudy further north and west with the best of the sunshine further south and east where it will remain feeling hot. Good morning, Friday morning will see a band of rain push northeastwards across the UK, heavy and thundery across mainly western regions. Across England and Wales expect sunshine before and after the passing of the frontal band of rain. Further north there will be more in the way of widespread cloudier skies with the best of the sunny spells in the east. Through the afternoon the band of rain will affect mainly northern parts of the UK including Ireland. Some heavy and possible thundery outbreaks are more likely across northern central England as well as southern and central Scotland. Southern areas look to be largely dry, fine and feeling hot again in the sunshine. The hottest of conditions to be felt in the southeast. Overnight, the frontal band of rain will gradually push offshore to the northeast of the UK leaving behind largely dry but muggy conditions over Scotland. Across England and Wales expect a mostly dry night although some isolated showers could still develop. Still feeling warm and muggy, particularly across more central and eastern parts. More widespread rain pushing up from the south is forecast to affect Ireland and Northern Ireland.
