Areas affected...Southeastern NM...Far West TX

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 298...

Valid 240010Z - 240215Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 298
continues.

SUMMARY...Risk of hail and some wind continue across southeast New
Mexico into far west Texas.

DISCUSSION...Thunderstorm clusters have merged into an elongated
corridor of convection across eastern NM from San Miguel County - De
Baca County - Lincoln County - Sierra County. Over the last hour or
two, radar algorithms suggest hail sizes have gradually decreased as
earlier supercells are now more multi-cellular, loosely resembling a
weak MCS. This activity should continue to propagate south-southeast
along the instability axis into far west TX where it remains hot,
with surface temperatures in the mid 90s, and low-level easterly
flow continues. CAMs are not particularly aggressive with this
cluster of storms but they do suggest this weak MCS will continue
beyond the southern/eastern watch border, thus some consideration
for a new watch may be necessary.
