NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...Southwest and Southcentral North Dakota

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 327...

Valid 040546Z - 040715Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 327
continues.

SUMMARY...An isolated severe threat will continue, mainly across far
southern North Dakota over the next couple of hours. The severe
threat is expected to become marginal and WW 327 will be allowed to
expire at 0700Z.

DISCUSSION...The latest radar imagery shows a small cluster of
thunderstorms in southwestern North Dakota. These storms are located
along the northwestern edge of moderate instability with the RAP
showing MLCAPE near 1500 J/kg. The short line segment is also
located behind an outflow boundary which is hampering instability.
However, instability appears strong enough, combined with 0-6 km
shear near 30 kt on the Bismarck WSR-88D VWP, to support a threat
for damaging wind gusts and hail. The threat may continue past the
0700Z watch expiration time but should become increasingly marginal
with time. For this reason, the watch will be allowed to expire.
