Mesoscale Discussion 1194 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0923 PM CDT Sat Jul 11 2020 Areas affected...Northern/Central Oklahoma...Northwest Arkansas Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 358...360... Valid 120223Z - 120430Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 358, 360 continues. SUMMARY...Severe thunderstorms will spread southeast across northern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas this evening. Hail and wind are expected with this activity. DISCUSSION...Convection has expanded in areal coverage along a corridor from the eastern OK Panhandle into extreme northwest AR over the last few hours. This activity has evolved within an area of extreme instability along the southwestern flank of a mid-level short-wave trough that is digging across eastern KS/MO. In the wake of the short wave, surface boundary has advanced to near the KS/OK border, and is moving south at 20kt. Within the hour, this boundary should interact with the extensive convection across the northern portions of OK which may encourage this activity to continue to grow upscale and begin to sag south. 00z sounding from OUN was very unstable with ample deep-layer northwesterly flow to support organized southeast movement. Wind and hail remain likely with these storms. ..Darrow.. 07/12/2020 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product... ATTN...WFO...TSA...OUN...AMA...
