Mesoscale Discussion 1229 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1121 PM CDT Tue Jul 14 2020 Areas affected...Western/Central KS...Northwest OK Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 371... Valid 150421Z - 150615Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 371 continues. SUMMARY...Isolated hail/wind threat continue across western/central KS and northwest OK. DISCUSSION...An expanding corridor of convection is currently noted across southwestern KS/northwestern OK within a zone of focused low-level warm advection. Surface boundary that is draped across central KS into the TX Panhandle is not expected to move appreciably over the next several hours, and a LLJ over western OK is impinging on this boundary over south-central KS. This appears partly responsible for the recent increase in thunderstorm activity over the last hour. Long-lived supercell cluster that formed over CO has evolved into a LEWP over southwest KS. These storms are expected to propagate east, along the cool side of the boundary. Hail/wind remain possible with this activity. If the ongoing activity over southwestern KS continues to grow upscale, there may be a need to consider a new watch downstream. ..Darrow.. 07/15/2020 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
